Sarah was born on February 21, 1946, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. She attended Gardner-Webb University for two years in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, and completed her bachelor’s degree at Wright State College in Ohio. Over the course of her career, she became a schoolteacher and a legal assistant, and even enrolled in law school to further her knowledge. She also devoted a great deal of her time to her favorite cause, P.E.O., a charity that has supported women’s education since 1906, eventually becoming president of her local chapter. Sarah embraced sophistication and adventure throughout her life, living in various cities coast to coast and in between, making each community she resided her home.
Married for 56 years and mother of two daughters, Sarah loved and was deeply proud of her family. She had many friends and made it a point to keep in touch with them all, no matter how far apart they lived. She enjoyed having weekend get-togethers, spending time with her family, making any room she was in glow with her fiery spark. Sweet and beautiful, Sarah never had a bad word to say about anyone and was loved by all she met. She welcomed them warmly and genuinely, with a southern charm that made people open up and talk to her with ease. She radiated class and intelligence, and always knew just what to say to make you feel better. No matter what she set her mind to, Sarah was fully committed to it, whether it was her women’s group, book club, playing piano, or making lunch dates with family and friends. Amazing at all of it, her greatest accomplishments were as a mom, grandma, wife, and best friend, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Charles P. Logan Jr.; her daughters, Emily (James) Hale and Erin (Daniel) Nason; and her grandchildren, Forrest Hale, Chase Tyson, Coral Hale, Marley Hale and Sarah Nason. A celebration of life will be held for Sarah with family and friends in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her honor to her charity group, P.E.O., Chapter AK, care of Brenda Miller, 5391 Lindero Place, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
