Jim Rigney was born on February 11, 1944 in Waltham, Massachusetts. He joined the Unification Movement in Boston on Feb 11, 1978 and was Blessed in marriage with Leslie Foster Olivas on February 17, 2013 in Korea.
Jim served in the Boston Family Church as assistant to the Pastor. He fundraised for the Boston Family Church and also on MFT and was a top fundraiser. He worked for Seilo Machinery. Jim lived on the Ivory Coast of Africa and was effective in leading witnessing, starting businesses, and fundraising. Jim was helpful in starting the first Internet Service Provider in Nigeria. He traveled all over Africa evaluating fishing businesses. He served as Continental Leaders for Africa and also attended 14 Middle East Peace Initiatives.
Returning to America, he managed the Manhattan Center and showed how it could become a profitable business. Jim attended the Unification Theological Seminary and also started a Real Estate business in Redhook NY. In 1990, after returning to Africa, he also served in Tula, Russia for three years, educating many teachers and students about the Divine Principle. In 1996, he returned to the USA, working in Real Estate and helping with ACLC.
After receiving the Marriage Blessing in 2013, Jim and his wife Leslie moved to Las Vegas, where they have been helping with UPF.
Jim has given many donations for IPEC, for Africa, for the church, for UPF, and for individual members. He sponsored two families to come to America, one from Liberia and one from Jardin. He has liberated his 430 generations of ancestors and is working to be a Choengbo victor.
Jim's deepest passion was to develop a database of True Father's speeches, categorized with over 60,000 terms to understand the “Blueprint for Creation” that True Father spoke about. That work will continue. He also enjoyed sharing his experiences with Second Generation and encouraging them on their way.
Jim passed quickly and unexpectedly on June 24, 2021. He leaves behind his loving wife, a brother and sister, two daughters, four grandsons, five step-sons, and three step-grandchildren.
Jim was grateful to serve True Parents on Earth or in Heaven. It has been and is an honor to know him and to love him.
