With the deepest sorrow, we announce that Daniel Hornung, 53, our most beloved son, brother, uncle and friend; passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020. He was born February 21, 1967 in Evanston, Illinois to his parents Jay Franklin Hornung and Marilyn Joyce Hornung (Sathre).
Daniel grew up in Morton Grove, Illinois. In is youth, he was athletic, and outgoing and loved to play basketball. Danny was the youngest of his five siblings. He was always so kind and caring and throughout the years the family grew strong and close because of Dan. He was our light; and was so loved!
In 2003, Danny relocated to Henderson, Nevada. He loved spending times with his family, 80's rock, homecooked meals, camping in the outdoors, watching Nascar, and was a huge Chicago Bulls basketball fan.
We know Dan is now with his Dad, Grandpa and Grandma in heaven. He is free to ride again, free to soar, free to run and play with his beloved cat, Nova; and he is at peace. Those who knew Dan even just a little, lost a beautiful light in their lives. We LOVE you, Danny, and we will miss you always.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Jay Franklin Hornung. He is survived and will be missed everyday by his mother Marilyn; sisters: Janet, Debbie (Eric) , and Pam (Wes); brother, David (Debbie); nephews: Mathew, Jason, Michael, Douglas, Phillip, and Tyler; nieces: Patti, Lauren, Nicole and Paige; loving uncle, Jim and aunt Jackie; all his cousins; and many, many great friends.
Daniel will be laid to rest privately with his family at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a local animal shelter.
