Raymond Lyle McCollum, 91, of Riverside, CA passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in Riverside, CA. He was born on Thursday, April 14, 1921 in Hanover, OH to the late Samuel and Collie McCollum. He was a beloved husband to the late Bonnie J. McCollum; father to Lyle E. McCollum; grandfather to Lyle E. McCollum, Jr., Lori A. McCollum (m. Daniel Orth), and Lesli E. McCollum Gooch, Ph.D. (m. LTC Gary Gooch, Ret.); and great-grandfather to Marina Elena Orth, Madison Rae Orth, and Isabella Malia McCollum.
A skilled craftsman, Raymond (also know as "Mac") retired from McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, CA as a Senior Maintenance Electrician in 1981. He was honest, witty, and uncompromising, and he loved to spend time with his family and tell funny stories. He was extremely resourceful and enthusiastic about potential opportunities, and he always enjoyed discussing entrepreneurial ventures and investments. Above all, he was a loving, generous, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he leaves rich memories for all who were fortunate to know him.
In honor of dedicated service to his country in the United States Army during World War II, a graveside service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
