Marcus T. Rankins was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Fred Rankins and Myrtle B. Anderson-Rankins. Mr. Rankins was raised in Baton Rouge, LA and graduated from Capitol High School in 1960. Upon completion of High School, Mr. Rankins enlisted in the US Army for 2 years before permanently relocating to Los Angeles, California. It was in California that Mr. Rankins met, Bernice, who would become his wife. No matter where Mr. Rankins planted his roots, he brought life to those around him, with his larger-than-life personality, and sense of humor. Mr. Rankins was always the life of the party and keep everyone laughing with the many jokes he loved to tell.
In his leisure time, Mr. Rankins enjoyed listening to music, reading the paper, and doing word searches and crossword puzzles. Not only did he enjoy his leisure time, Mr. Rankins also had a good work ethic, and worked as a Custodian at Los Angeles Trade Technical College for, over 40 years. When he was not working, he regularly loved working in the yard, and running many errands for his family.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Myrtle Rankins. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Bernice Rankins; 5 children, Germaine Rankins, Margo Rankins, Jessica Rankins, Eddie Kennard, and Brandon Rankins; three brothers Fred Rankins (Grace) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Clinton Rankins (Gale) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Roy Rankins (Rebecca) of Irvine California, four sisters Reola Legardy of Henderson, Nevada, Gwendolyn Green (Freddie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Linda Rankins of Fontana, California, and Myrtle Rankins of Henderson, Nevada; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends, and neighbors.
