Henry Leroy Nugent

Henry Leroy Nugent, 94 of Hemet, CA passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, in Hemet, CA. He was born on Tuesday, December 28, 1926 in Bellingham, WA. He was the son of the late Grant Nugent and the late Genevieve (Durham) Nugent.

Roy was a Veteran of WWII in the Merchant Marines, and the Korean War in the Army. After that, he owned a high-rise commercial window and carpet cleaning company employing 25 men in Seattle, WA. He had contracts for the “Space Needle”, Red Lion, and other large hotel chains until he retired in 1991 at the age of 65. Roy was a past President of Kiwanis in Hemet, CA and a past Secretary of Kiwanis in Seattle, WA. He had been an Elder with Valley Community Church in San Jacinto and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet. Roy had been a 30+ year member of the Elks, presently Hemet Lodge #1740. Member of the American Legion Post #53 Military Honor Guard, a member of the Sentimental Singers, and a member of Hollywood Screen Actors Guild making many movies.

Roy is survived by: His wife Gail (King) Nugent and predeceased by two other wives. Roy has five living children: Jana (Nugent) Strand, Colette (Nugent) Knudtson, Nancy (Nugent) Rasmussen, Tracey Nugent, and Steve Meyer. Seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by three sisters, Neysa, Bethel and Thurza.
