Charles Otha accepted Christ at the early age of ten in October 1956 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Indianola Mississippi. He remained a member there until he moved to California in 1960. He worked various jobs while attending school and graduated from Centennial High School in Compton, California in 1965.
After graduation from High School, Charles joined the United States Army, served in Vietnam and was Honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant. After working briefly for the Postal Service and Silverton Law Firm as an Investigator, he joined the Los Angels County Police Department, where he worked for 32 years. He retired from there in March 2001.
In 1983 he joined the New Commandment Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Grady Jones, and in 1986 he joined Holy Tabernacle of God Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor D.D. Alexander after he united with his wife, Irene Clark McClinton. He remained a member there until he moved to Moreno Valley in 1990. He later joined New Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Felix Carter, Jr., where he was ordained a deacon and served faithfully for the Lord until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Irene Clark McClinton, his daughter, Sgt, Genesis L. McClinton of Fort Campbell, Tennessee, his Father and Mother In-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. (Irene) Clark of Memphis Tennessee, four nieces, Jamesa, Shalisa, Shalonda, and Jameya McNeal , one nephew, James McNeal, Jr., a great nephew, Andrew Smith, and a very special friend and sister, Christine Baker, all of California, three half brothers, Rev. James Scott (Bertha), of Woodbridge, Virginia, Deacon Charlie McClinton, Jr. (Mamie) of Memphis, Tennessee, Adhel Henderson of Clarksdale, Mississippi and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be sincerely missed by all.
