Catherine Lee Long, 63 of Hemet, CA passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by loving friends and family. She was the daughter of the late Paul R. Curran and the late Eleanor Mae (Hill) Curran. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents as well as her two sisters Cheri Morgan and Christine Robinson, and daughter Ryan Hein.
Catherine is survived by her 4 boys Matthew Long, Dustin Long, Jacob Long and Robert Hein, her brother John Curran, 5 grandchildren, and significant other Monty Cobb.
Catherine was born on Sunday, May 12, 1957 in Whittier, CA and grew up in Southern California where she attended Lowell High School. Ever the adventurous soul, she later found herself in South Dakota in the late 70’s where she briefly settled down and had her first two children during her first marriage to Robert Hein Sr. Eventually, however, she returned to her roots back in her home state in the early 80’s and welcomed 3 more children into the world with her 2nd husband of nearly 25 years, Bart Long. It was here that she spent the remainder of her years, continuing to cultivate her legacy as an amazing woman with a world beating personality.
Catherine will be remembered for being the true embodiment of a free spirit. Never one to stay put for too long, she fittingly held a deep passion for travel, the outdoors, and the enjoyment of life at every turn. She had a knack for ingenuity, seemingly always finding a way to get a problem solved - a characteristic that led her to becoming a jack of all trades and an essential pillar of wisdom to friends and family. Perhaps Catherine’s most enduring trait of all, however, was the duality of her character. She possessed a sometimes veiled but undeniable sense of compassion and tenderness that only a mother would understand. At the same time, she often showcased an endearingly bold and boisterous persona that could be summed up with one word: Unshakeable. As if perpetually shrugging off her short stature or any construed faults, she always carried herself in life like she was 10 feet tall with the heart of a lion and nothing to lose. Something she stayed true to the very end. It’s because of this energy that Catherine, without a doubt, left an indelible impression on everyone she met. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
