Carole Louise Norris

August 19, 1938 – March 24, 2019

Carole Louise Norris was born on August 19, 1938 in Portland, Oregon. Carole was the sixth born out of seven children. Her father, Thomas and mother, Alberta later moved to Grandview, Washington where she remained during her childhood. Her early years growing up on a farm were just the beginning of her work life. She shared stories of cold winter nights wearing layers of clothes to bed to keep warm, to waking up early to cut asparagus and maintain the farm before school.

Carole moved to California in the early 1960’s and met the love of her life, Bernie Norris. In 1967 they married. Carole and Bernie bought a home in Downey, California where they raised their three daughters, Lisa, Becky, and Trisha. Carole was a spiritual women, she supported her girls while they attended and participated in the Catholic Church and school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Carole worked all her life, primarily with secretarial type jobs. She spent most of her career at the City of Downey Public Works Department. Her husband Bernie died is January 2003 and shortly after Carole retired in 2004. Twenty-five years of exemplary employment was followed by a move to Nevada.

Carole brought love, comfort, and much laughter to her family. No one person could have been suited at being a better mom and grandma than Carole. She always made sure everyone was cared for and treated fairly.

Carole’s health began to decline as Alzheimer’s took its toll. Surrounded by her family Carole went to heaven on March 24th, 2019. Carole is now reunited with her mother Alberta, her Father Thomas, husband Bernie, daughter Lisa and her brother’s Flip, Allen, Neil, sister’s Patrica and most recently Barbara. She is survived by her brother Donald, her two daughters Becky(Keith) and Trisha(Oscar) along with her six grandchildren Scott, Kimberly, Brent, Bryce, Brad, Skylar and six great-grandchildren.
