

Ellen was the beloved daughter of Robert and Jane Segal, a devoted wife to the late Burton Landau and a loving mother to her sons James and Richard. In addition to her sons, Ellen is survived by their spouses Lesly and Hiromi, five grandchildren, Emily (Jared), Jessica (Jake), Andrew (Jennine), Katherine (Sean) and Joseph, as well as her six great grandchildren, Henry, Lily, Hannah, Gavin, Dylan and Kieran whom she took great joy in.
Ellen went to Bryn Mawr College, graduating cum laude, with a degree in child psychology. Ellen was an Assistant Dean and Director of Continuing Education at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA, an ardent volunteer for Josh Shapiro when he was a Pennsylvania state representative and a devoted fan to all of Philadelphia’s sports teams.
Those who knew Ellen will remember her love of opera, especially the works of Puccini and Mozart, gardening, doing NYT crossword puzzles by the side porch and the Phillies.
There will be a celebration of Ellen’s life on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 1:00 at the Riverside Memorial Chapel, 100 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, New York. After the memorial service, the family will be sitting shiva at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/.
