He was raised on a rice farm in Welsh, Louisiana and graduated from Welsh High School. He played “six man football” and was nicknamed “Bugs” for his swift running speed. He spent many summers visiting his mother in Jacksonville, FL and always loved the beaches. He enlisted into the USAF and traveled the world. Bill led an interesting and full life. He knew and loved Jesus Christ his savior.
Bill retired from the USAF as a CMSGT. His retirement hobbies included upholstery, maintaining a cattle farm, gardening, working with the La. State Forestry Dept. and later working as a realtor for Brown’s Realty. He made and loved a good Gumbo!
Although he was born in Alabama he lived most of his childhood in Louisiana. He loved his LSU TIGERS!! He and our mom were among the fans sitting in the stands of Death Valley when Billy Cannon made his famous winning touchdown run on Oct. 31, 1959. Wherever stationed, in or out of the US, he faithfully followed the LSU Tigers and spent many hours listening to their broadcasted games on the radio. He enjoyed seeing them win the 2019 National Championship. Geaux Tigers!
