Sharon Louise Torbet Turley was born on October 23, 1947 to Claude Hugh Torbet and Frances T. Torbet. Sharon peacefully went to be with her heavenly Father on June 28, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic and Liver Cancer.
Sharon was preceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 36 years, Art Turley, her sister Claudia Duckworth, and daughters Dianne Turley and Pam Winslow. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Ashley Teague (Kevin), Linda Pounders, and Debbie Turley, and her sister Pam Smith (Tim). She is also survived by her grandchildren that refer to her as Minnie Mom (Landon Boone and Isabella Teague) or Momma Sharon (Melanie Lyons, Tony Winslow, Shannon McGill, Zachary Pounders and Hunter Pounders. Her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends will also cherish her memory. Also left to treasure her memory is Diane Taylor Tobey. They were best friends for 70 years and share a special bond much like sisters. The adventures they shared will be fondly remembered and shared for years to come. They always had each other laughing, as well as anyone that heard stories of their wild and crazy adventures.
Sharon graduated from nursing school in May of 1991 and soon began working in the medical field. She had a calling to teach nursing and began that career at Northwest Technical College in Minden, then to teaching in Malvern Arkansas, and back to Louisiana to develop the nursing program at BPCC in Bossier City Louisiana. Sharon leaves behind a wonderful legacy in the nurses she has helped to mold and prepare for their career in nursing. She was proud to have several of those previous students taking excellent care of her in her final days. She loved all of her students from Louisiana to Arkansas and her BPCC family. There is now the Sharon Turley Award given to the student demonstrating excellence in nursing upon graduation.
A special thanks goes to Hal and Marianne. You made her very happy by your willingness to take care of her number one baby, Kirby. It gave her great peace to know that you would be taking care of him after her passing and provide him a wonderful, loving home.
Thank you to Christus Hospice and Christus Highland Grace Home for your care and comfort during this time.
A visitation will be held on July 8, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Haughton, Louisiana and a graveside service will be held July 9, 2022 at 2:00pm at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana with Bro. Scotty Gibson officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, St. Jude, or the foundation of your choice.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to he, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
