BOSSIER CITY, LA – Mary Ann Shaw, 77, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011, at the Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Plain Dealing, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. She was born November 11, 1933, in Gainesville, Florida. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, member of Daughters of the Nile, and a member of The Barksdale United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry U. and Pearl L. Bryan, brothers Harry W. and Ronald Ray Bryan all of Gainesville, and a grandchild James Slawson of Bossier City.
She is survived by her husband of 59, years Joe W. Shaw, Sr., son Joe Jr. and Mary Shaw of Gainesville, Florida, daughter Bebia and Paul Slawson of Bossier City, daughter Robin and Johnny Kilgore of Bradley, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way, sisters Pat and Bill Thompson of Mayo Florida, Sharon and Howard Townsend of Newberry Florida, and Sister-in-law Betty Bryan of Gainesville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mrs. Shaw as pallbearers will be family members.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of The Whispering Pines Nursing Home for the loving care given over the years spent there.
Memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospital in honor of Mrs. Mary Shaw.
Celebration of Life services for Mary Ann Shaw will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2011, in the Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, with Dr. John Braden Officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation Sunday, September 25, 2011, from the hours of 5-7 p.m. at Hill Crest. Interment will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana.
