Magdalane "Maggie" Knight, 77, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Maggie, the eldest of six children, was born in Shreveport on September 3, 1946 to Ollie Potts. She met her beloved Jack, in March of 1963, and they married in April of that same year -- a true love story. They began their family the following February with the birth of their first son, Randy, and that family was her world.
Maggie was the most precious, most understanding and the most generous woman you would ever meet. Her loves in life, after family, of course, were fishing and junking. She was an avid reader, and mostly read from Christian authors and anything that was about the history of the places and people that shaped our culture. She knew so much, and it was a beautiful thing to sit at her feet and have her tell you about how things were in her day. She loved to talk about her grandma Molly, who introduced her to the word of God, reading the Bible together with her night after night, and who was instrumental in her coming to know Jesus as her Savior. Our Maggie loved deeply!
Maggie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Jack (Cleveland Cornelius Knight, Jr.); son, Randy (Cleveland Randall Knight); mother, Ollie Potts McAdams; brothers Gene Merritt and Jimmy McAdams; and sister Barbara Woods. She is survived by her daughters Julie Hardy and husband Dale, Tina Gregg and husband Matt; son, Danny Knight; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren (whom she adored); and her partner, Jackie Birdwell; along with many others who consider her ‘momma’ and ‘grandma’. She was truly a blessed and loved woman, who blessed and loved all who knew her.
The family would like to mention and give our gratitude to Dr. Tyler Lash at the Willis Knighton Cancer Center and to the faculty at St. Joseph Hospice for the impeccable care, clothed in dignity, grace, and compassion that she received from them. And finally, her sweet puppy Molly, who had been her constant companion for the past nine months, and who never left her side, still bringing comfort even in her final moments. We are so thankful for that little dog and could not go without mention of her Molly.
You are forever loved and treasured by us all My Maggie!
I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefor I have continued my faithfulness to you-Jeremiah 31:3
