Born on August 07, 1947 in his beloved home state of Connecticut to loving, Italian parents, Joseph Sr. and Lois. Joe was reared for a life of service and dedication to others. Joe entered the United States Air Force where he faithfully served his country for 28 years until his retirement where he received multiple service awards and medals for his dedicated service to the USAF and our country. Joe was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base in 1994. Not knowing he would later become to be a “Louisiana boy”. He met and fell in love with the love of his life, Sandra, and they married later that year. They loved and supported one another unconditionally for 28 years until the very end and took care of one another without complaint.
'Papa Joe', as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, loved to laugh and crack silly jokes. He was a big jokester and lover of jazz and good food. He was a true friend and a man of his word. Many young people could learn much from the qualities he exhibited each day in how to live as a Christian example. Doing the right thing, being honest, working hard, taking care of others and living a life beyond one’s own needs are qualities he exhibited throughout his life.
The family is thankful for the care he was provided in his last days and for the mercy our Lord showed during this time. We are comforted by His word and His promise. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on the day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dominic Menna Sr. and Lois Bazzell Menna of Connecticut.
