He was born January 29th, 1981, in Nuremberg, Germany. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Erika Melancon and Edward Burford; paternal grandparents, Leo and Genevieve Kerrigan; and cousins, Bridgette Kerrigan and Colleen Kerrigan.
As a child, he and his family relocated often due to military service. Constants in his life were the love of his parents and of siblings, Tammy and Jason. He was an active child with a more active imagination. He spent his childhood competing with his brother and looking up to his big sister. He graduated from Parkway High School in 1999 and attended LSUS. He then continued to pursue a highly awarded career with the Shreveport Police Department. With his spirit for helping those in need, Jeremy served on the Shreveport Police Department for 21 years. He spent a decade serving our country through the Army National Guard and the Navy Reserves. He must also be remembered for his service in Operation Iraqi Freedom; preceded in death by his fellow soldiers, SGT Craig Nelson and Major Ronald Wayne Culver.
He always sought to be the Superman he read about in comics and watched in superhero films. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, representing the state of Minnesota where he spent time as a child and where much of his paternal family still resides. Always a family man, he loved and cherished his family and children. He had his first child, Lillie, in 2003. Jeremy shared his love of movies, music, games, and his unique sense of humor with his first born. In 2018 he met his love, Maggie May, as partners on the Shreveport Police Department. Together they loved to go to escape rooms, travel, cook, and enjoy life. He gained two bonus children: Alayna and Landry. In December of 2019, they were blessed with Axton, and in 2022, Loki completed their family. They shared their love with their children and filled their lives with fun experiences and family.
His humor and love of life will be deeply missed. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Donald and Renate Kerrigan; wife, Maggie May Edwards; children, Lillie Ellen Edwards, Alayna Jordan Mazurek, Landry Ryan Litton, Axton Bane Edwards, and Loki Kerrigan Edwards; sister, Tammy Kerrigan-Sawyers (David); brother, Jason Kerrigan (Michelle); nieces, Brianna Sawyers, Kennedy Kerrigan, and Cristina Kerrigan; his SPD family, and countless other family and friends.
