Giovanni “John” LoBue, 93, of Bossier City, Louisiana, peacefully went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Born in Patterson, New Jersey to Italian-immigrant parents, Giovanni learned the Italian ways from his mother in the kitchen. After being stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, Giovanni married Sarah Dolce, the mother of his four children, and opened the Piccadilly Italian Restaurant. He would always like to say “I brought pizza to North Louisiana in 1952,” and he saw over 30-years of success. Marie Rutledge, who he affectionately titled “his better half,” enjoyed many years of dancing and traveling. With Giovanni’s Italian zest and style, he was the life of everywhere he went. He is survived by his daughter (Gloria Mosley) and his three sons (Johnny, Anthony, and Joseph LoBue), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although his recipes and legacy live on, he will be missed dearly by family and friends across the country. In Giovanni’s own words, “Salute e Cent’anni” (or “wishing you health for 100 years”).
