A Memorial Service for George Alvin Brice Jr, 64, of Bossier City will be held at First United Methodist Church, Bossier City, LA , 201 John Wesley Blvd. Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. Visitation 1 p.m. until service time, with Rev. Mark Goins officiating. George passed away, Monday June 24, 2024 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Hospital after a courageous battle of heart and lung disease with his loving family beside him - "All is well with his soul."
George was born February 29, 1960 in Shreveport, resided in Bossier his entire life. He retired with the Bossier City Fire Dept as Deputy Chief, September 2011 after serving 32 years as a firefighter and paramedic. George was a flight medic air rescue team member and ground transport medic for Willis-Knighton and Schumpert Hospitals. He loved his job and took delight in helping people whenever he could, He was a faithful member of the Bossier Lions Club and volunteered at the Bossier Football Jamboree each fall. He was a member of The Bossier Optimist Club. His love for the LSU fighting tigers was overwhelming to the family, He was devoted to both LSU football and baseball games and watched all events on TV with zest. George enjoyed spending time in his backyard living room equipped with all amenities watching kids and grands swim and watching his games. Cooking outside was his speciality just ask his family and friends.
George was preceded in death by his father, George Alvin Brice, Sr; and his step-father, Jack Rech; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sims Brice; children, Heather Brice Thrower and George Alvin "Trey" Brice III (Caitlin); his mom Marilyn Joy Brice-Rech Norton; step father, Kenneth Norton; step-mother, Pat Brice; brother, Taylor Brice (Jamie); his precious aunts, Jerry Bruce and Judy McKenzie; one uncle, Johnny Arnold; step-sister, Kathy Rech Morhman (Jon); step-brothers , Mike Rech (Vickie), Dave Rech (Terri), John Rech (Lee) , Steve Rech (Lee) , Bill Rech (Loretta); four great-grands, Kayleni Jewel Brice, Brice Everett Thrower, McKinlee Brice, and Annelise Brice, all of Bossier City; two brother-in-laws, Bobby Sims (Carolyn), and Mike Sims (Denise); sister-in-law, Leni Gayle Woods; along with a host of amazing cousins and faithful friends.
The family would like to thank nurses Mia, Whitney and precious Lisa of Cornerstone Re-hab for their compassion shown to George. They always had his best interest at all times.
