George Bradford III, age 69, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Willis Knighton Bossier. He was born on February 11, 1954 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to the late George Bascom Bradford, Jr. and Imelda Martha Shea Bradford. George graduated from Airline High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Bossier Parish Community College in Business Administration. In May of 73’ to May of 79’, George served our grateful nation of the United States Air Force in aerospace ground equipment repair. He started his lifelong career with Arkla-Gas/CenterPoint Energy in 79’ and retired in December of 2018 as an advanced corrosion supervisor.
George was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He had a passion for grilling and chilling with family and friends. George enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He loved fishing at the "Arkla Pond" with his children and family.
George was diagnosed in October of 2021 with cancer, he fought a courageous battle. He passed away with his daughter Adrianne and sister Marilyn holding his hands.
George was preceded in death by his parents and faithful companion; his dachshund Sky.
Left to cherish George’s wonderful memories will be his three children: son, Kristopher Bradford and wife Michelle, daughters: Adrianne Bradford, Amber Burley and husband Lt. Colonel Mark Burley of the United States Air Force. Grandchildren: Brendan Bradford, Emma Bradford, Carson Gibson, Jamison Bradford, and Bradley Burley. Sister; Marilyn Thomas and husband Kenneth Thomas, niece; Khieran Thomas, and nephews: Keary Thomas, Kayne Thomas, Lamar Holmes and wife Kelli, great-nephew; Rayne Duque, along with extended family members and many wonderful friends. George also leaves behind man’s best friends: his orange Tabby cat; Milo, and dachshund; Jasper.
A visitation for George will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
Honoring George as pallbearers will be Kenneth and Keary Thomas, Chad Patrick and CJ Patrick, Ian Ferguson and Skyler Westfall. Honorary pallbearers are Kayne Thomas, Rayne Duque and Jeston Tuck.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Ferguson family; George’s neighbors whom he absolutely adored. He viewed them as his bonus family; Tanya, Ian, Tinsley, and John Robert. George always enjoyed attending the games and functions of the Ferguson family.
