Darlene Combs

A memorial service celebrating the life of Darlene Combs will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Pastor Marcus Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Darlene was born on February 27, 1940 in McCook, NE and passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022. She was the youngest of nine children growing up on a farm and often shared memories of experiences with her siblings. Darlene and her late husband Calvin relocated to Louisiana in the 1980s where they enjoyed many years together surrounded by grandchildren. Darlene lived in Louisiana the remainder of her life albeit never forgot her Midwestern roots and enjoyed making runzas with her family. Darlene loved her trips to Arkansas to visit her son and daughter-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Combs; and grandsons, Jesse Long and Jamie Shields.

Darlene is survived by her children, Deberra Wischoff and husband Dave, Scott Long and wife Diane, Robert Long and wife Ann and Sandra Haley and husband Sid; grandchildren, Cherie Ezernack (Nathaniel), David Wischoff (Natalie), Nicole Morgan (Jordan), Colby Wischoff, Nina Long, Jason Shields (Ashlee), Zachary Haley and Shelby Haley; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Corbin, Layla, Gabriel, Alyssa, Taylor, Conner, Caleb, Austin, Tyler and Holden as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jason Shields, David Wischoff, Colby Wischoff and Zachary Haley.

The family would like to express appreciation to the family in Nebraska and local family and friends for the kind words and prayers.
