He was born in Harrisonburg VA on May 21, 1940, to the late Tilman Jefferson and Barbara Painter Weaver. He lived in Harrisonburg until 2018 then moved to Bridgewater VA.
He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1958 and followed up with obtaining his BS of Economics degree from Bridgewater College in 1964.
On August 19, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Marie Miller, and they spent the next 64 years side by side, sharing life together.
He spent most of his career working for the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services as a Counselor and Regional Supervisor. He also carried many part time jobs in officiating for high school football, basketball and baseball, Valley League baseball, Harrisonburg Recreation Department basketball and softball. You could also find him running the clock/scoreboard for JMU basketball and football.
In his free time, he was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman, as well as raised cattle. His prize buck, George, still hangs proudly in the family’s garage. In later years he thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports, traveling to many places to watch with the family. He had a passion for the outdoors and spent many family vacations camping or enjoying the beach.
A lifetime, spirited volunteer, he worked with the Salvation Army helping prepare their Christmas food boxes and enjoyed ringing the bell for the Christmas kettles. He was a member of Victory Fellowship Church and had served as a Chaplain and recruiter for Industrial Commercial Ministries. He was a man of strong faith and shared it in all that he did.
He never knew a stranger and spoke to everyone. Because of that he had many lifelong friends that he stayed in contact with over the years through golf, PlentyNine trips, High School and Cousin/Family meals and get togethers, playing cards and many visits to and from friends.
