He was born on August 11, 1943 in Franklin, WV and was the son of the late Robert Isaac Kile and Martha B. Bradley Kile Thacker.
Wayne was raised in the Rawley Springs area of Rockingham County. He later married and lived in Harrisonburg before moving to Elkton in 1970. He was a faithful member of the Elkton Pentecostal Church where he served as an Elder. He was a plumber and pipefitter and worked for numerous companies, including Brown and Root, Blauch Brothers and Riddleberger Brothers. He retired early due to a medical condition known as Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
On October 11, 1963, he married the former Carolyn A. Wood, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Barbara A. Breeden (Jeff) of McGaheysville, Karen R. Handy (Anthony) of Edmond, OK and Ronda K. Jenkins (Ricky) of Stanley; his grandchildren, David Kile, Jennifer Kile, Matthew St. Clair, Eric St. Clair, Tiffany Shifflett (Seth) and Spencer Brittingham (Hailey); great-grandchildren, MaLeah, Faith, Sadey, Mason, Gavin, Isabelle, Alex, Abigail and Allison; five step-grandchildren, Sean, Darren, Yasmine, Anthony “AJ” Handy and Robin Roberts (Bobby) ; two step-great-grandchildren, Cora and Ryker Roberts; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Mae Hoover; brothers, Charles Junior, Leo Isaac and Donald Stanford Kile; and a stepfather, Wesley S. Thacker.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Elkton Pentecostal Church or they may visit at the home at other times.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the church with Pastor Eddie Byers officiating. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery.
