He was born on July 1, 1961 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to the late James "Jim" Edward and Sallie Joan Burton Waid.
Chet graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1979 and Bridgewater College in 1983 with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a caregiver for numerous family and friends.
He was a lover of music and supported all of the local bands in Harrisonburg and surrounding areas, he loved The Grateful Dead and enjoyed going to their concerts and collecting their memorabilia. He also loved and enjoyed spending his time with his great nieces and nephews.
Chet is survived by his sister Joan W. Nutt (Russell) of Salem, WV; nephews, Justin Nutt (Dakota) of Clarksburg, WV and Josh Nutt (Jordan) of Salem, WV; great nieces and nephews, Kaleigh, Jacob, Lucas, Zoey and Grace; aunt Mary Ann Waid of Southington, OH; a number of special friends and cousins.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Janet M. Waid, preceded him in death.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated. The family will receive friends 1-3 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Lindsey Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
