On the 15th of April, 2025, Jennifer Lightner’s journey reached its final chapter at UPMC—a moment as unexpected as the whomping willow's twist in a tale. Born under the magical skies of March 8, 1977, in Harrisburg, PA, she remained steadfast to her roots, much like a true Hufflepuff loyal to their hearth. A graduate of Dauphin County Technical School in the year of 1995, Jennifer’s industrious spirit echoed the house motto: hard work and dedication.

Her career at Transcore flourished like a phoenix from ashes as she climbed from modest beginnings to the heights of success, mastering her art in the accounting department for EZ Pass. Her endeavors were celebrated with numerous awards—a reminder that even Muggles can achieve greatness in their own domain.

Jennifer’s heart was as full as a butterbeer tankard, as her love for sports brought her to the sidelines of games played by her nieces and nephews, and her unwavering devotion to the Cowboys earned her camaraderie akin to a Quidditch team. An ardent aficionado of Harry Potter’s universe, her Hufflepuff virtues shone brightly, embodying loyalty and kindness.

Survived by her mother, Mary Hill of Harrisburg, PA, two brothers, Steven Hill and Matthew Hill (also of Harrisburg), a sister, Ashley Hill of Portsmouth, OH, and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her loyal emotional support dog Miley -- Jennifer’s legacy continues like the echoes in the Hall of Prophecy. Her cherished daughter, Jazmyne Lightner, her father, Terry Hill, and her grandparents, both maternal and paternal, preceded her in entering the mysterious veil beyond.

The magic of Jennifer’s life will be celebrated at the Cremation and Burial Society of Pennsylvania on Monday, April 21, with a viewing from 6pm to 7:30pm and a Celebration of Life from 7:30pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Speranza Animal Rescue—a noble cause, truly worthy of a Hufflepuff’s compassion.
