

He was born on February 16, 1939 in Dubois, PA to Charles Nathan Phillips Signor & Hedwig Frano Signor Impress. His mother remarried after his father’s untimely death at age 27, to Dr John R. Impress Optometrist, in 1944. He grew up in Emporium, PA and graduated from Cameron County High School in 1957. He attended Pennsylvania State University completing his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1962. He was a professional architect for commercial and residential projects for more than 50 years. Some of his large scale work includes: The Gettysburg National Bank, Gettysburg, PA; The Neighborhood Center, Harrisburg, PA; The Rose Garden Medical Building, Harrisburg, PA; Elk County Eye Clinic, Saint Marys, PA; Canoe Creek State Park, Canoe Creek, PA; Adams County National Bank, East Berlin, PA; Waynesboro Savings Association, Waynesboro, PA; Barasch Residence, Harrisburg, PA; Fitz/Signor Residence, Port Murray, NJ; PA Cable and Telecommunications Association, Harrisburg, PA & Harrisburg Friends Meetinghouse, Harrisburg, PA to name a few...
He was a founding member along with his former wife, Pauline Signor, of the Londonderry (Private) School established in 1971 in Harrisburg, PA. Additionally he held posts on the Harrisburg Planning Commission, Harrisburg Property Reinvestment Board, was a founding member of the Green Building Association of Central PA, and was a President of the Board of Trustees of Londonderry School.
He was an avid reader, wordsmith, poet, music lover, world traveler, gifted artist and craftsman, craft IPA beer aficionado and local food group member. His passion, beyond his work, was for the game of golf which he enjoyed in any season with great friends. He proudly shot 2 hole-in-ones in his lifetime! He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, the Penn State Nittany Lions basketball and football teams as well as the Harrisburg Senators.
He was an extraordinarily loving, supportive father who always put his family first and was devoted to his daughters and grandchildren, who knew him as “Baba”.
He is survived by his daughters: Kirsti Signor and husband Pete Godber of Dillsburg, PA; Tari Signor and husband Ben Fitz and grandchildren Ainsley and Rohan of Port Murray, NJ; Miya Signor of Brooklyn, NY; Marisa Jones and husband Matt Jones & grandchildren Harvey, Penny, Maddy and Alex of Springfield, PA; a younger sister, Susan Impress Mianulli of Groton, MA and a niece, Molly Mianulli of Hartford, CT.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 29th at The Unitarian Church of Harrisburg 1280 Clover Lane, Harrisburg, PA and a private burial will be held at the Rathbone Cemetery in Oswayo, PA.
