5/6/1963 ~ 7/9/2022
Anthony (Tony, T-Bone) Formica passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Harrisburg, the son of Mary C Formica and Deacon Alphonse R Formica (deceased). In addition to his father, Tony was predeceased by his loving wife of 17 years, Linda Lou. Surviving in addition to his mother Mary, is Stacey Cole (Lee), Mary Rita Wilk (John), Ann Suknaic (John), Ellen Corbett (Dan), Joe (Colleen), and Jennifer all in Harrisburg, one son Tony G Formica, sister-in-law Sandy Koch (Rick), brothers-in-law, Gary Gladfelter and Tom Gladfelter, his nieces, Alex, Nora, Delia, Sophia, Hannah, his nephews, Daniel, Nick, Ben, Jonas, Jude, Mitchell, Danny, and Andrew. We would be remiss if we didn’t include his many friends and extended family members (Ivanoffs, Lavias, Murphys, Skiffingtons, Hatfields . . .) - all of whom he loved.
Tony marched to his own drum. He was a compassionate, spirited, caring, imaginative, creative, and talented man who loved and cherished many things, most importantly the people who came into his life. Anytime he was out and about, he stopped to talk because he ran into someone he knew. He was accepting of all people and would offer to give the shirt off his back to someone in need, even though he didn’t have many worldly possessions. He placed value on people. Tony loved his Mother, siblings, nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, and most importantly his wife, Linda. Tony and Linda were two people made for each other. They found joy and happiness in each other. Together, they loved their dogs, Big Daddy, Chick Pea, and Sneefum.
Tony loved Cars, Motorcycles, Dale's Drum Shop, and Music. In most pictures of Tony, you will find a guitar or microphone in his hand. He shared his music through the songs he wrote, his thousands of gigs, and the discussions he had with other musicians. He was a longtime member of the Blues Society of Central PA, cut a number of CDs including “Evil Skies” and “Slaughterhouse Blues” and was a performing member of several bands, including Corn Wallace Band, Slaughterhouse Blues, T-bone and the Turbo Kings, a sometimes guest of Krypton City Blues Revue, and numerous other bands playing at 40 and 8, Lochiel, and various venues across Central Pa. and beyond.
Tony was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, worked for several auto body and mechanic shops in the Harrisburg area, and the General Assembly of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed time with family and friends, gigs, hanging under the hood of any car, tinkering with his motorcycles, going to Saturday’s Market, building guitars, wearing flaming shirts and hats, drumming, collecting anything, and riding his motorcycle with a group of friends, Linda on the back.
His spirited life will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA. 17111. Viewing and greeting of the family will begin at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will occur immediately following Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery (across the street from the church).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg, Bishop McDevitt High School, or simply share kindness, reach out and help a shut-in or friend.
