Ada Elizabeth Kauffman, 99, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her much-loved home in Rutherford Heights, Harrisburg. She was born in Mechanicsburg, daughter of the late Harvey and Sadie (Wrightstone) Vogelsong.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Truman Samuel Kauffman; an infant son; two sisters, Edna Hill of Carlisle, and Cora Marsh of Hanover, and a brother, William Vogelsong of Harrisburg.
Ada is survived by three children, two sons, Russell M. and Marlin E. of Harrisburg, and daughter, Janet E. Shearer also of Harrisburg; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Ada was a member of Paxton Church of the Brethren. She was employed as a seamstress with the Quaker Made Dress Factory on Fourth Street in Harrisburg and also the Blough Factory in Hummelstown. Ada was greatly admired for her baking skills and recipes. She adores her pets, and loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening and caring for her flowers, but her favorite pastime was sitting on the front porch chatting with loved ones.
She was dearly cherished and will be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives in which she touched.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in the Spring Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Hershey. A viewing will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
