Born in Iredell County on May 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William Coite Church and Vagie Martin Church.
Mrs. Absher spent many years with the Iredell County School System as an elementary teacher.
She was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, where she served as the church pianist, Sunday school teacher and Charge Wide Secretary.
Alice was very active in the Ruritan Club, and was honored with the National Ruritan Club Secretary of the Year award; served as Business and Professional Women’s President; American Business Women’s Chairperson; President of NCAE and Vice President of Delta Gamma Society International.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Paul, David, William and Grady Church and sister, Lucy McCarthy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arlie Absher; her children, Jeff Absher, Regina Absher and Joey Absher; one granddaughter, Mary Absher; two sisters, Lou Ann Jones and Antha Reid; two brothers, Frank Church and Roy Church and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ernest M. Troutman Memorial Chapel in Harmony.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fairmount United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynne Lepley, Rev. William Wease, Rev. David Walters and Rev. Joe Conley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
