Elena M. Mares

Harlingen- Elena (Helen) Mares, wife, mother and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully at her home in Harlingen, TX, on December 6, 2017, at the age of 90. She was surrounded by her loving family. From her birth in Harlingen, TX., on January 17, 1927 to her death on December 6, 2017 she nurtured people around her with love and kindness. She felt whole when surrounded by family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. She continued to bless her family with her kindness, patience and selflessness and unconditional love until her final days. If you were blessed to know her, even in the smallest way, the chances are great that she touched your heart, tickled your funny bone or warmed your soul with delicious food. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Elias, and her children and grandchildren whose photos and stories she would share whenever given the chance; her son Elias Jr. (wife Millie, children Roshelle and Adrian); her daughter Eva (husband Dan, children Daniel and Monica); her son Amado (wife Eloisa, children Andy, Randy and Elena); and son Frank (wife Terry, children Vanessa, Trisha and Frankie: 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 beginning at 3 p.m., and will continue until 9 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel.
