Virginia Lynne Powell

1941-2017

Virginia Lynne Powell, 75, was known to her friends and family as Lynne, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 8, 2017.

Lynne was born on May 7, 1941 in San Gabriel, CA to Floyd and Edith Kennedy. Lynne was raised in Southern California where she lived until she moved to Hanford, CA where she remained until her passing.

She loved spending time in the garden with her husband, going to eat with friends and listening to music, especially Cat Stevens. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. As a friend of Bill W., Lynne helped many people find their way through life and was like a mother to many.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bud Kennedy, and granddaughter Sara Ransom. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Mike Powell; sons Troy Ransom, Jay Ransom (Regina), Lonnie Ransom and daughters, Heather Pierce (Steve), Laura Terrazas (Gerard), Sheree Carson and Samantha Carson with 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Grijalba and Marilee Horniday, many nieces and nephews, her BFF, Samee Jones and two special ladies who were like daughters, Jannette LeBlanc and Lisa Pierson.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel, 501 N Douty St, Hanford, CA. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Hanford Cemetery.
