Michael William Weatherly born July 12, 1945, in Hanford, California to Jack and Ella Weatherly. He passed into the arms of Jesus peacefully with his family by his side September 12, 2022, after a brief illness.
Mike is survived by his wife Myrna, his children Susan (Alan) Busby, Stephen (Karen) Stout, Ken (Nancy) Stout, Karen Martin, grandchildren Justin Marquette, Moriah (Justin) Brooks, Colton Busby, Evan Stout, Shelby Stout, and great-grandchildren Ellie Rae Weaver, Audrey Ann Brooks, and Austin Brooks. Mike is survived by his brothers Larry Weatherly, Ronnie (Carolyn) Weatherly, Keith (Kathy) Weatherly, and a sister Carol Lofton as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents Jack and Ella Weatherly preceded his death.
After attending Andrew Hill High School, Mike returned to Hanford High late in his senior year and graduated from Hanford High in 1964. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army on August 30, 1964, and served until he was honorably discharged September 30, 1967, obtaining the rank of Sargent, E5, Paratrooper and Machine Gunner. While in the service he received his basic and AIT training at Fort Ord and then traveled to Fort Benning in Georgia to complete his jump school training. After completing training, he was stationed in Panama for 18 months returning to Fort Ord for the remainder of his time in the service. He was proud of his service, proud of his country, and proud of his fellow veterans. He made time and loved to reminisce with any and all fellow veterans he would come in contact with. For the balance of his life he held various construction jobs and retired from MAF Industries in Traver, California.
His life was forever changed completely on January 13, 1975, when Jesus became his Savior and Lord. He would proudly tell of his conversion to all that would listen. He also became a passionate man of prayer believing that God hears and answers our prayers. He also loved the study of God’s word, spending much time learning and sharing.
Mike attended Glad Tidings Church in Hanford from 1981 until his passing. He served in many ministries over the years from years of leading ushering, to years leading Men’s Ministry, to years of men’s bible studies, years leading Junior High Sunday School, years leading fireworks fund raising booth, years in Kidz Club ministry, years in Good News Club at Armona Elementary School, church board member, and his most fulfilling roll was taking church to the young people at Juvenile Hall. As the years have gone on his interest in writing, drawing, and painting grew. He always had an artistic project going and always had a picture to get framed or an original writing to share.
He influenced many lives with the importance of a relationship with Jesus. He took every opportunity to pray with people and encourage them. He will be greatly missed by so many.
A visitation for Mike will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at People’s Funeral Chapel, located at 501 North Douty Street, Hanford.
