It is with great sadness that the family of Eva Pauline (Gayman) Ellis announces her passing on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her home with her loving husband at her side. Eva was born on September 6, 1928 to Burl & Pauline (Koch) Gayman in Morrill, Nebraska. Eva attended Morrill High School and graduated in 1946.
She decided to join the U.S. Navy in 1950. Eva enjoyed the Navy and traveled to many exciting places in her career excelling to Petty Officer 1st Class. She retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of proudly serving our country in August 1970. Eva married the love of her life, a Master Chief; Lawrence E. Ellis in December 1970.
Eva was a good Christian Woman of the Lutheran faith and she loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; Burl & Pauline Gayman, two sisters; Margaret Garrett & Freda Kellums, three brothers; Fred Gayman, Sam Gayman & Gleen Gayman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years; Lawrence “Larry” E. Ellis of Hanford. She also will be missed by her brother-in-law; Leslie “Les” Ellis. She will always be cherished by her numerous nephews and a niece.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 (559) 584-5591. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1:15 p.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery; 30338 E. Bear Mountain Boulevard, Arvin, CA 93203 (661) 867-2250.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Eva’s memory to the American Cancer Society; www.cancer.org/donate or to your favorite charity of choice.
