She was born in Tunnel Hill, West Virginia on November 20, 1934, to Leonard and Claire Maddy. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Richmond; brothers, Ronald Maddy, Arnold Maddy, Wilmer Maddy; sisters, Coleen Bolton and Phyllis Ratcliff.
She is survived by her two children, Jack Richmond (Sandy) of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter, Beverly Mehaffey (Ronald) of Williamsburg, Virginia; three beloved grandchildren, Michael Mehaffey of Naples, Florida, Tammy Mears of Williamsburg, and Christopher Richmond of Dallas, Texas, as well as five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one brother, Phillip Maddy of Nimitz, West Virginia, and one sister, Mary Ploeger of Sedro Wooley, Washington, and many nieces and nephews.
She moved to Virginia with her husband in the mid 1950s. She was a long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia.
A visitation will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 12:00-1:00 PM, and a Graveside service to follow, beginning at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park.
