Saundra Haines passed away at home into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 28th after a short illness. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 16, 1939 to Wilbur and Jean McCoppin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles McCoppin and husband, Sonny Haines. She is survived by her two children: Lisa Holloway (Greg) and Mark Haines; as well as three grandchildren: Ryan Holloway, Ben Holloway and Miya Haines; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by friend and first husband, Arthur A. Colombini.
She moved to Virginia in 1972 and began her career at the Newport News Shipyard as one of the first female welders retiring after 32 years of service. She was a devoted member of her church, Faith Church of God in Hampton, Va. where she enjoyed fellowship with many special friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the church, 1115 Todds Ln, Hampton, VA 23666, on October 13th at 5:00 with friends and family welcome.
