He is preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Williams; sisters, Charlotte Williams and Linda Lucido; and grandsons, Jonathan and William Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Ann Williams; his mother, Alice Williams; his daughter, Angela Taylor and husband, Scott of Hillsborough, NC; his son, Christopher W. Williams and wife, Kimberley of Poquoson, VA; and grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Caroline, Alexander, Lia, Brady, and Greyson.
Upon graduation from Hampton High School in 1964, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. In 1990, his passion for creativity and design and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others led him into the home building industry and the formation of his company, R. L. Williams Builder, Inc. He served on various home building boards and commissions including his service as president of PHBA. Over the last four years, he greatly enjoyed working at Hatchett Home Improvement. His commitment to excellence and his standard of integrity made him a role model to many and an inspiration to all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22 from 5 to 7:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert's life will be held Monday, August 23, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
