Myron G Drewniak

Myron, more commonly known as Mickey or Mike, leaves behind his adoring wife of 62 years, Susan Louise, of Hampton, Va.; his son and daughter, twins Michael, of Hampton, Va. and Nancy Drewniak Fedro, of Cornwall, N.Y.; his brother and sister, Gary Drewniak of Palm Coast, Fla., and Dale Drewniak Raposa, of Fort Pierce, Fla.

He was pre-deceased by his older brother Stan, and his parents, Stanley and Mary Drewniak of Fall River, Ma. Susan and Mickey are also pre-deceased by their son Mark, who died at 25 in 1989.

Also surviving him are five grandchildren whom he loved and doted on: Christopher Drewniak and his identical twin sisters, Katie and Claire Drewniak, all of Cranford, N.J.; and Jackson and Harrison Fedro of Cornwall, N.Y.

Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to family, home and career. He was a successful businessman, who moved his family several times as his career accelerated to homes in Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, and finally to his home on the Chesapeake Bay in Hampton, Va., 25 years ago. There he and Susan would enjoy their home in retirement, with its beautiful natural surroundings and beach a short walk or golf cart away. It was here Mickey and Susan hosted many highly anticipated visits through the years from his son and daughter, his grandchildren and son-in-law Tom Fedro, and many other close family and friends.

Mickey was retired from the former Sandoz Corporation in Hanover, N.J., where he was a director, overseeing sales and technical services for the Sandoz dyes and chemicals division servicing the New England and southern states textile industries. He graduated from a small technical college, Durfee Tech in Fall River, Ma., where he, his sister Dale, brother Gary and his late-brother Stan grew up.

The three boys were very close and highly athletic, excelling academically and on the basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields and baseball diamonds. Mickey was a standout on his tech school basketball team. In 1958, his team earned a chance to play in the Tech Tourney Class A championship at the fabled Boston Garden. With two seconds on the clock, Mickey sunk a layup to win the championship. Years later, he was inducted into the Durfee basketball Hall of Fame.

Funeral services for Myron will be held on November 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton. The viewing will start at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Peninsula SPCA.
