Joe & Ilene were absolutely the best of neighbors that we were graced in having during our AF tour in Hampton Roads.  Joe being exceptionally generous, immensely creative and skilled at all he did, and the best project buddy a person could ever have!   We will miss you Joe.

I personaly did not know "Big Joe" only Joey and Debbie (from cheering). If he was anything like those two, then i know he was a great person. May god bless you in the days, months, and years to come.

I was priviledged to serve with Joe both in the Air Force and at NASA.  We often talked about our old times in the AF. He was truly a brother in arms to me.  RIP my friend.  My prayers and special thoughts go to his family.

I will have the finest of memories of Joe every time I look at the model crane and bulldozer he made for me with his own hands.  Times we spent on the dock at the river talking, fishing for rock, drinking a few PBR's with him.....he was a wonderful person, friend, father and husband.

last  friday i  was traveling  on rt.17 returning from the va.i though about stopping  by to see joe and ilene,but again i did not.i am sorry i did not. .joe and i had been friends for over 40 years.i watched joey ,grow up to be a fine man.ilene has always been agreat lady,joe and i had some fun and crazy times at one time he was like a brother to me . Joe was lucky to have such a loving family and he will be sorely missed by all. He was a wonderful man to work and to play with. If anyone needed anything fixed Joe's garage was the place to go. Toys and lighthouses would come out of scrap lumber and old cars would get new life. We were all lucky to have him in our lives. I was especially lucky to talk him out of retirement for our last job together. At 70 years of age he was the spark plug for the entire program. We could not have done without him. I will miss him so very much.

For many years I had the honor of working with Joe (and Joey) at NASA for several of the contractors.  Joe was a good guy, fun and easy to work with and was missed after he retired.  May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead and keep him alive in your hearts.  The last breath he took on earth was the first breath he took in heaven and heaven has gained a true angel. Thoughts and prayers go out to you all during this difficult time.

I have many fond memories of Joe as i worked for him on the motor crew for several years under the Klate Holt contract at NASA.Joe always had a joke for you or would pull one on you but in the end he always had your back.He was a great boss and a true friend.My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Joey and the entire family during  this difficult time.
