Jan was born December 27, 1940, in Cambridge, England. It was there that she met and married her beloved husband Andy while he was serving with the U.S. Air Force. Travel was something that Jan and Andy enjoyed during their 63 years together. They enjoyed many travels back to England visiting family and friends and touring the country. Their travel through the United States was extensive and they always loved finding new places to see. Many of their travels took them to several national parks, often times with friends.
Although Jan was born in England, one of her fondest memories was when she became a United States Citizen on June 20, 1990. She met many of her friends while a member of the TBPA. Several of them have remained close and called themselves the Lunch Bunch as they would meet once a month to have lunch and catch up with each other.
Jan an avid bowler, bowled on several lady’s leagues over the years as well as being on several mixed leagues with Andy. Also, as a servant for their community she and Andy delivered meals on wheels throughout the city of Hampton for almost 20 years.
Jan will long be remembered for her love of her friends and young children. She cared for several school teacher’s children through the course of the years and spoke of them often. Her love for others drove her to provide fruit, candy, and cards to those she knew in nursing homes. While visiting with one she would make friends with others and they too would be someone for her to visit.
Jan was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracey Hensley; parents, Les and Joyce Lallaway; sister, Marion Pearce; and her beloved uncle, Harold Farrington. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Andy Andrews; daughter, Debbie Diggs; granddaughter, Shaunna Lorditch (Jason); grandson, Andrew Diggs (Amanda); great-grandson, Nikalas; and great-granddaughter, Paisley.
Jan will always be remembered by Andy, who always referred to her as his bride, for her kindness and her devotion to her family.
