Lt. Col. Don M. Smock (USAF, Ret.), 92, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was born in Franklin, Indiana and was a resident of Hampton for 43 years. He was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force and retired in June 1974 after 29 years of service. He served during WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He earned various medals, including the Air Medal and the Bronze Star twice. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling.
Don was preceded in rest by his daughter, Sandra Worley, and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lucille Smock; sons, Steven Smock and Michael Smock; daughter-in-law, Betty Smock; and grandchildren, Nicole Smock and Jeff Worley.
The family will receive friends 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Don’s life will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
