Brandon was born in Newport News, VA on April 17th, 2001. He spent time during his
childhood participating in community service, and had a care for giving back to his community.
Brandon began playing basketball in middle school, and was a part of the Hampton Roads
basketball community for over 7 years. He was proud of his education, and graduated with
honors from Williamsburg Christian Academy in 2020.
Brandon joined the Newport News Shipyard in December of 2023, where he worked in X11 as a
shipfitter. He was proud of the work he accomplished while at the shipyard, and expressed his
love for the job, his coworkers, and his excitement for furthering his career to his family
constantly.
Brandon, affectionately known as B to his close friends and family, was a hardworking, caring,
and loving young man who was dedicated to providing for himself and his family. Brandon was
the first baby of the family, and was an amazing role model. He provided love, care, and
protection to those around him, especially his two younger siblings and several younger cousins.
Brandon was full of laughter and light, and never failed to put a smile on anyone’s face. He was
hardworking, and was dedicated to building a good life for himself and his son. He constantly
would put others needs before his own, and was proud to be a caretaker for his family. Brandon
was constantly questioning and educating himself on the world around him, forever wanting to
learn as much as he could about leaving a lasting legacy for his family. He was always a positive
spirit, constantly lifting up those around him, and always encouraging positive and forward
thinking.
Most of all, B was an incredibly loving and devoted father. His son was the light of his life, and
Brandon did whatever he could to ensure his son felt love and would continue to have a happy
childhood. Brandon was incredibly proud to be a father, and will forever be his son's angel in the
sky.
Brandon is re-joined with his Great-Grandmother, Geraldine McKinley, and Great-Grandfather,
Arthur McKinley, in heaven.
He is survived by a loving family, including his son, Kayden Herman; his mother, Megan Herman; his father and step-mother, Jackson Herman and Cassie Herman; his sister, Makayla Herman ; his brother, Jackson Herman; his step-siblings Allie and Lucas Crippen; his aunt and cousin, Danielle Robinson and Amari Cooke; his grandparents Laura Fuller, A.J Fuller, Lee McKinley, Valerie Herman, and Jackie Herman; and a large number of other cousins and family members that continue to hold Brandon in their hearts and minds forever.
Brandon would have wanted to be remembered for his positive contributions to the lives of
everyone he touched, and the legacy he left in the form of his son. Brandon was a proud son,
brother, nephew, and grandson, and his unwavering love for his family will live on in their
hearts, watching over them from heaven.
Brandon’s funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 15th at 4pm at Parklawn Funeral
Home in Hampton, VA. Please come by to celebrate his life, share stories, and lay Brandon to rest.
