On December 5, 2024, Wayne Craig departed from this life. Charley Henry and Ola Zelphy Eary Craig welcomed him into the world on June 21, 1937, in Hamilton. On September 5, 1964, Wayne wed Roberta Jenson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. On June 12, 1968, they welcomed a son, Larry Wayne. Wayne attended Providence Baptist Church.
After completing his regular army service, Wayne spent a number of years in the army reserve. He was stationed in California during his time in the military. Wayne spent his entire life in Hamilton, apart from his time stationed in California.
Wayne oversaw the Minneapolis-Moline service facility, "Craig Implement," for many years. It was founded and run by the Charley Craig family. He could fix anything and was a great mechanic. Due to Wayne's passion for antique tractors, he co-founded the Hamilton Antique Tractor Show with Robert Craig, Darman Wagner, and Murlin Bottlinger. The show was a long-running success. Originally situated behind Craig Implement, the tractor show quickly expanded and was relocated to the Jayson Harris Pavilion. Wayne loved going to parades and exhibits and restoring vintage tractors.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Ola, son Larry, brothers Charles, Robert, and Tommy, sisters-in-law Rita and Sallie, and nephews Jimmy, Danny, Kenneth, and Jason Craig.
Wayne is survived by his wife Roberta, brothers James Craig and wife Jimmie, Dean Craig, Randal Craig and sister-in-law Sondra Craig. Nieces and nephews include Deborah and Michael Moore, Donnie Craig, Rickey Craig, Michael and Maria Craig, Jerry and Valerie Craig, Seth and Erin Craig, Shelly and Justin Walker, Misty and Colby Boatwright, Kevin and Courtney Craig, and Chris and Jennifer Craig as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Craig, Jerry Craig, Seth Craig, Darby Craig, Kevin Craig, Chris Craig, Nathan Craig and Rickey Craig.
Visitation will be on Tuesday December 10, 2024, at Riley Funeral Home from 12:00 -2:00 PM, A Funeral service will follow at 2:00 and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
