Shirley grew up and lived in the Rio Grande Valley for many years. She graduated from Pharr-San Juan Alamo High School. Shirley was a Stenographer and secretary for the US Government and several other private businesses for over thirty years.
On April 2, 1956 she married Joe C Evans and they raised two daughters.
She married Billy Joe Poole on October 17, 2008 in Hamilton and they were together until he preceded her in death on August 20, 2021. She was also preceded by her parents, brother Lee Nolan Gorman and sister Gladys Gorman.
She was active in several churches, prayer groups and other ministries over the years.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend, who showed values and compassion in all aspects of her life.

Survivors include her daughters Natalie Jackson and husband Hubert of Katy, TX and Stephanie Evans-Voyles of Dublin, TX; one grandson Brison and wife Maria with their children Olivia and Elizabeth of Katy, TX and one granddaughter Shelby Nelson and husband Luke with their child Elise.
Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Riley funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, TX with burial following at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Shive.
