Barbara Jane (Hedin) Damron, 78 was born in Weymouth Massachusetts on September 1, 1942. Barbara sadly passed away on December 3, 2020 at Hamilton Health Care Center. She was proceeded in death by her beloved Husband and best friend Donald Wilbern Damron (October 12,1944 - September 24, 2015). Barbara was a United States Army veteran and met her husband while they both were serving their country in Korea. When they returned to the States, they were both stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas and then they married . They would both retire from the Army and raise their family in Central Texas. Barbara and Donald had 5 children: Rebecca, Dennis, Jason, Mary, Kary and 6 grandchildren: Amber, Christy, Carl, Rosa, Alissa, Alaura. Barbara then went on to be a teacher at the prison in Gatesville. She was a member of the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) she also worked at a feed store in Jonesboro, Texas and eventually moved to Hamilton, Texas. Her hobby’s included playing Mrs.Claus during the Christmas season, she loved doing that as her husband played Santa Claus, SODOKU and word puzzles, she would read scriptures to the ladies that would quilt together in Purmela, Texas. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Purmela and later a member of Refuge-ministries in Purmela.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Riley Funeral Home from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Riley Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.Burial will be at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery (Killeen, Texas) on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
