Trevor was the beloved husband of Tammy (or Tamera, as he affectionately called her) for 20 years, devoted father to Quinn, and a man whose pockets were always mysteriously devoid of his keys, wallet, and or phone. Born in Larne, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, he moved to Ontario at the age of six, embarking on a journey that would see him touch many lives.
Trevor's academic pursuits were as varied as his interests. He earned a Radio Broadcasting diploma from Mohawk College (which led to a brief stint with the AM 96 News Team in Cambridge), followed by an Honours History degree from McMaster University, and a teaching degree from Windsor University. He then spent 26 years molding young minds with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, ensuring generations of students left his classroom both educated and slightly more sarcastic. Misplacing his keys, wallet, and his phone were regular occurrences, as was his nightly ritual of singing show tunes while preparing for bed. He was known for collecting every Stephen King novel ever published and - yes, he did read every single one. He loved the films of John Wayne and the music of Hank Williams. He loved to build models, watch movies, and had a wit so sharp it required a warning label.
More than anything, Trevor adored Tammy and Quinn. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for their happiness—though he probably would have surely complained about it first, just to keep things interesting.
Trevor is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary Ayre, and his mother-in-law, Linda Patterson. Along with Tammy and Quinn, Trevor is also survived by his father-in-law, David Patterson.
Per his wishes, there will be no service and cremation has already taken place, but rest assured, Trevor would expect everyone to raise a glass, share a laugh or a memory and—just this once—put their damn phone down and be present in the moment. He will be greatly missed, though his presence will surely be felt every time a set of keys mysteriously vanishes into the void.
