Beloved wife of the late Ralph Thomas Carter (deceased June 2006). Much loved mother of Douglas (Margaret), David (Christine) and Jim (Cecilia deceased). Loving grandmother to Jason, Pamela (Robert Lambert deceased), Jon (Christina), Sarah (Gary), Barbara (Matt), Allan, Mathew(April) and Christopher (Kim) and a Great-grandmother to Carter, Garret, Westley, Lillian, Grayson, Makayla, Thomas, J.D., Jack, Irene, Steven and Violet.
Our Mom was the second daughter of the late Frank and Marie Jones (Lapp). Beloved sister to Marlene Boniface and the late Helen Barnard and Iris Mulholland. She is also loved by many nieces and nephews.
When Mom was 15 and visiting a friend's house she met Ralph he was 18 years old and in uniform (Air Cadets). They fell in love and were married when Mom was 18 and remained happily married for 55 years. Mom spent the early years of their marriage working at the "Canners" until Doug came along. Mom and Dad always lived in Hamilton and raised their family on the East Mountain. Mom was a great cook and we will all miss her Christmas baking, especially her Belgium Cookies. Mom always enjoyed playing Euchre and played her whole life. She and Dad had a group of friends who played together monthly and after Dad's passing she continued to find games where she could at The Sackville Hill Park Seniors Centre.
When the kids were young, Mom loved spending summer weekends at Grandma and Grandpa's cottage on Lake Erie with the whole family around. Those memories are some of the best of all our lives. After the kids were grown Mom and Dad spent most of their vacation time in Florida.
Several years after the passing of our Dad, Mom did finally move to Selkirk, Ontario to live with Dave and Chris, where she spent her time relaxing with the dogs and being cared for by her family.
Dad has been patiently awaiting Mom's arrival in heaven where she can spend time with her family there.
Heartfelt thanks from all of us to the staff at Greater Niagara General Hospital and also Haldimand War Memorial Hospital. The staff were very patient and understanding of our needs.
At Mom's request Cremation has taken place and the internment will be announced at a later date
Donations to the Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
