It is with great sadness our family announces, that after a short illness, Bob passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on June 30th, 2024. Beloved husband of Aileen and a proud and loving Dad to Bob (Sherry), Lynn and Douglas, all of whom meant everything to him.
Bob will be sadly missed by his brother Gordon and sister-in-law Beth Baxter, cousins Mitch Copland (Barbara) and Lesley McKillop. He was “Uncle Bob” to Gordon and Lynsay Baxter, Rachel Kenneth and Amanda Baxter, Bryonna, Renton and Lochlin, Carson and Candice Romaker, Allie, Ayden, Braiden and Bailee, all who meant the world to him. Bob will be lovingly remembered by Gord Dunn. Also Ishbel Kerr, Helen and Rog Jeffrey, Greig and Lee Lawson and Stuart, Helen, Eilidh and Beth Lawson in Scotland and also longtime friends Gary and Joan Baker and their family.
Bob was born in Gourock, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1968. He was a longtime employee of Bertrams and Valley City Manufacturing in Dundas. A faithful member and elder in Knox Church Dundas and latterly a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Ancaster.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff on E4 Juravinski Hospital and to the wonderful staff on 3East at St. Peter’s Hospital for their outstanding care of Bob and their kindness and compassion shown to our family.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, where visitation will be held on Monday July 8th from 4-8pm. A service of thanksgiving and remembrance will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 31 Sulphur Springs Road, Ancaster. Date to be determined. If so desired, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Hospital or to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Ancaster, ON.
