He is survived by his sons Michael (Lori) and Dylan (Emily), siblings Roger (Betty) and Cecile Schreiber. He is predeceased by his parents Gerard and Irene, and his brothers Robert and Gerard. He will be missed by his extended family and friends.
Mike was a sheet metal worker in the Local 537 Union for over 35 years working throughout Ontario. Prior to that, he was a pastry chef for a few years. This continued his love for cooking and baking which he instilled in his sons. He was an avid Hamilton Ticat fan and was a season ticket holder for over 25 years. He also loved watching hockey, in particular the Hamilton Bulldogs and also NASCAR. Over the years, Mike spent his time coaching his sons’ sports: hockey, lacrosse and baseball. He will always be remembered for being quick witted, having a good sense of humour and his ability to complain about the Hamilton Ticats.
Special thank you to the staff at the Juravinski Hospital ICU for their compassion, care and support.
Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Saturday, April 5 from 4-8 p.m. Cremation to follow.
