On Sunday, February 10, 2019, Ken, in his 91st year, a man of great faith was gathered up by a host of angels and taken from his earthy home to his heavenly home, with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ peacefully.
Beloved husband of the late Joyce Carey, loving father and step-father to John (predeceased) (Kerry), Douglas (Anne) and Christine (Joe), Carolyn (David), Lonnie (Naree), Kenneth (Kristine). Cherished Grampa to Johnny, Shieleen, Michael, Leeann, Christopher, Shanya, Heather, Melissa, Lonny, Alyx, Kate, Sarah, Kyle, Kendra and Mackenzie. Blessed to be a Great Grampa to Courtney, David, Siera, Madison, Savannah, Morgan, Devaan, Ariana, Joshua, Aislynn, Jordan, Kameron, Devun, Xander, Zeraphina and Wren. Ken will be sadly missed by his family Gord (Jeannette), Ardyth (Jim, predeceased), Marguriete (Keith), Eugene (Sheila), Rita (Kenny), Frank (Donna), Gregory (Dottie), Joanne (Michael). Predeceased by parents Robert and Georgina and brothers Don (Margaret, predeceased) and Jimmy. Ken is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many extended family members.
Ken proudly worked at Dofasco for 43 years. Ken and his wife Joyce were the owners and Administrators of Proctor Manor, Nursing and Retirement Home for over 39 years where they touched the lives of many people. He was a person of his word, if he said he was going to do something, he always followed through. For over forty years, Ken was an active member of St. Giles United Church, and more recently supported Chedoke Presbyterian Church through various outreach programs. Ken always supported various sports teams including hockey and basketball. Ken, through Proctor Manor, has been a sponsor of Mahoney Park for over 45 years. Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton on Wednesday, February 20th from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 21st, 2019 at 11am. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mahoney Baseball Association 1655 Barton St. East, Hamilton, ON L8H 7R3.
