Beloved husband of Jean (Mary, nee Bragdon) for 75 golden years. Dearly loved and missed by his daughter Joanne (Paul). Proud Papa treasured by Heather and Mark. Cherished brother of Dorothy Lawrence. Predeceased by his sister Florence, father James Sr., and mother Florence (nee Slater). Jim will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Jim was a former employee of Eaton’s. Jim and Jean had many fun filled years socializing with good friends (The Gang) from the Whiz Bang Bowling League. Jim had a passion for music (especially Jazz) and was a talented musician. He played the piano daily, bringing joy to anyone who was lucky enough to listen, right up until his last days. He was also an avid golfer. Jim enlisted in the army (RHLI) at the age of 18 and served overseas fighting bravely in the front lines of WW2. After getting injured by a grenade, he was flown back to England to heal. Upon returning to Hamilton, he met his soulmate Jean on a blind date. They married shortly afterwards, going on to share an incredible bond and 75 loving years together. Jim will be remembered for his genuine kindness, sense of humor, pure heart and soul. Everyone loved Jimmy.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service at Woodland Cemetery followed by a celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
