Our family grew to love Helen over the years and always enjoyed time with her on visits with the family. Her passing is bittersweet. All of us are glad her suffering has ended but we also are sad to lose her presence in our lives here. Heartfelt condolences to Ron, Lisa and Jonny, our dearest friends and to all the family near and far as they move ahead without their loved one.  Keeping everyone in mourning in our thoughts and prayers. Helen would want her loved ones to know the Saviour and believe. Her life was a life of love and service with her faith and hope in Jesus as a beacon to others in life and also in her death. Her funeral service was a lovely celebration of a life well-lived and a faith so strong.

Nana, a piece of me died along with you, but you can rest pain free now. I love you and I’ll never forget you.

I am honored to had the privilege to call this beautiful woman my mother-in-law for almost 47 years.  I have tried to be as compassionate, understanding and non-judgemental as she is.  Her passing has left a large void that fortunately all the many wonderful memories I cherish will help fill.  Thank you Mama for coming into my life.  I miss you so much but know you are no longer suffering and now with your Saviour.  I love you.  Till we meet again.

Every once in a while you come into contact with a person as Gentle and Beautiful as my Nana. She always looked out for everyone and wanted the best for you. You're the Light in our Darkness and we know you always be with us.  Fly high Beautiful and be with your Son


Helen was a kind and thoughtful lady and made us feel like family every time we visited the Vella’s home. Her strong faith in Jesus was evident as she spoke with conviction during conversations at our social gatherings. It’s comforting to know she’s in the everlasting arms of Jesus and in no more pain.  It’s not not goodbye, but see you later “ momma”. 

It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Helen. She will be deeply missed by her whole family, including her Grandchildren, Bethany and Gabrielle, here in the UK. I am praying for God to give everyone strength to get through this tragic time. Please God give everyone mourning her death right now, peace and comfort. I am very sad we didn’t get to say goodbye, and also that she didn’t get to meet her newest great grandchild Lola,  but I am sure she knew how much we loved her. Helen was a strong, and wise Christian lady, she was always loving and kind. She loved watching old movies, and old English comedies. She was often prone to shop at thrift stores and eat chicken at Swiss Chalet. I will always remember Helen with a smile on my face, as I remember the times we spent together. Bye lovely Maltese mother in law, till we meet again in heaven. 

To my beautiful Nana,

I cannot put into words how much you will be missed. You are so so loved and will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything you have done for me and for feeding me all of the food, when I lived with you. I’ll never forget us watching hours of Bones and Judge Judy. I wish you could have met Lola, but she’ll always be told about how incredible you were. Give Dad the biggest hug ever from me.
